about

Not just an advisor. A trusted guide.

Two decades stabilizing complex operations across federal, military, and venture environments – now translating that experience into roadmaps for the Indie Authors.

WHO I AM

The operator behind the press.

My job has been the same one for twenty years in different clothes: walk into a complex environment that isn’t running the way it should, figure out what’s actually broken, and hand back a system that works without me in the room. Sometimes that’s been a 30-person federal program. Sometimes a service desk supporting 2,200 users. Sometimes the multi-brand portfolio company I co-founded. Different industries, same job – make the chaos legible, build the operating system, get the people aligned, then move on.

Editing has been part of the journey since the start – military technical manuals, academic research, corporate documentation, creative fiction. But it was always one of the tools, never the trade. What I actually do is systems and roadmaps. Operations design. AI workflows. Automation. Knowing which tool to pull out of the forty available options, and why.

Indie authorship is where all of that lives. Every author shows up with a different book, a different audience, a different mess, and the same underlying question: how do I get this work seen without giving up the things that made me go indie in the first place? That’s a roadmap problem. That’s a translation problem. That’s what The Waypoint Press is built to solve.

How I work

My philosophy.

“I am not the answer – I am the guide. My job is to serve your vision.”

One book at a time means your manuscript gets my complete focus. No juggling five projects. No assembly line. When I have your book I am fully in on your work — reading it, thinking about it, caring about it the way you do.

My job is to serve your vision, not impose my own. Some suggestions you will take. Others you will not. That is exactly how it should be.

I work with all manuscripts regardless of how they were written. Whether you used AI tools for research, worldbuilding, character development or any part of your process, that is between you and your craft. My academic background includes deep exploration of ethical AI use in creative and academic contexts and I bring that knowledge to every project. What matters to me is your story, your voice and your intent. The page does not care how it got there. Neither do I.

Why The Waypoint Press

Every great journey needs a waypoint.

A place to stop, get your bearings, and move forward with purpose. The name comes from a mechanic in role playing games, a waypoint is a fast travel point on the map that lets you navigate the world more efficiently. But before you can use one, you have to discover it first. You have to explore your way there. As you help others and push through the continents you eventually become a ‘Wayfinder.’

In those worlds, waypoints are never found in empty wilderness. They are anchored at towns and settlements, places where travelers can rest, resupply, and find the services they need before continuing their journey. A waypoint without a community around it is just a marker on a map. It is the support, the guidance, and the expertise available there that makes it worth stopping at.

That is exactly what this service is. A stop on your publishing journey where you get your bearings, receive the guidance you need, and move forward with confidence toward publication. You have been exploring, doing the hard work of writing your story. This is where you stop, let an experienced guide review your manuscript, for you to continue forward, stronger, cleaner, and ready to share your work with the world.
