About the book

Johnny Rocket was not sent to Earth. He was sentenced to it. The terms are simple: assess the earthlings, find compassion for them, and demonstrate some grasp of consequences. The Council will decide whether he’s learned anything.

Twelve field reports later, he has encountered forbidden decorative pillows, suspicious rabbits, dying flowers, and one unlicensed weather-predicting rodent. His conclusions are filed with the weary precision of an observer who did not ask for this assignment and would very much like to go home.

The trouble is that home is being destroyed while he files. And his own mischievous nature keeps leading him to the same uncomfortable finding: sometimes you have to take the good with the bad – which is, unfortunately, exactly the lesson the Council sent him down here to learn.
